The auction sale which is held only a few days before the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, offers a fabulous opportunity for the owners and breeders to discover this breed which is now fully part of the Arc weekend. The synergy between the sale and the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe weekend has provided a definite boost to the market, attracting an international buying bench.
HE Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al-Thani, HE Sheikh Mohammed Bin Faleh Al-Thani QREC Chairman, Sami Jassim Al-Boenain QREC General Manager and other buyers from all over the world were present during the sale. Qatari owners and trainers attended the sale in huge numbers. Prominent among them were champion trainer Alban de Mieulle Jassim Al-Ghazali, Osama Omar Al-Dhafa, Dhafi Al-Marri and many more were keen buyers at the sale.
The French Bloodstock Agency President Jean-Pierre Deroubaix was elated with the presence of many Qatari trainers and owners at the sale. “There has been a good response from Qatari owners and trainers. There were a lot of horses on sale this year and as expected the sale was very good. Qatar has always supported this venture and we were positive that it would be a good show this year too. Most of the Qatari owners were looking for racehorses which are ready to run but there were only few of them. As expected the good horses sold for a very good price”, he said.
Speaking about the participation of Qatari owned horses in the Arc, he added “It is something very special. The Arc has reached another level after Qatar started its sponsorship of this event. Now we as well as Qatar are known all over the world. We thank Qatar for promoting this race for the French breeders, owners and trainers; which is very important. We have the best horses possible competing in this year’s race. It is going to be an exciting race as we have the best horse from Germany against the best filly, Treve from France. There are many other good horses to make this one of the best line-ups for the Arc.”
